A Few Feet of $3,800.... Anna Bloviation's house is located on a point of sorts. This means that there are no houses on either side but what we do have is a stone retaining wall as seen here. And It wraps around the property for hundreds' of expensive feet (at least when it comes time to repairing those feet...). The snow drifts and snow plows of New England have taken their toll on our wall and as you can see dead center in this picture, some of the top stones are coming loose (multiplied by many hundreds' of feet more). So I invited Sean (from the Yellow Pages) -- a perfectly charming man from Ireland (i.e. a land of just such stone retaining walls) to give me an estimate as to what it would cost to mix a patch of taupe-colored topcoat cement. Well he must have misunderstood me to say that I wanted a layer of semi-precious stones, not cement. $3,800?? And too bad too. I really love the Irish lilt. Not to mention that he was cute. Married, but cute. Plan B? Illegal aliens from Guatemala....
